American Style social dancing is what one would expect to dance at a party, wedding reception, on a cruise ship or in a nightclub.  It’s a playful style encouraging open moves, dips and spins.

American Smooth dances:  waltz, tango, foxtrot, viennese waltz

American Rhythm dances:  rumba, cha cha, bolero, east coast swing, mambo

Club dances are salsa, merengue, hustle, west coast swing, shag, jitterbug, lindy

International Style dancing can be seen on TV shows Dancing with the Stars, Championship Ballroom Dancing, and So You Think You Can Dance.  International style is danced the same way all around the world with regulated moves and dancers remain in the closed-hold throughout the standard dances.

International Standard dances: waltz, tango, viennese waltz, foxtrot, quickstep

International Latin dances: cha cha, samba, rumba, paso doble, jive
